Experience & Background
I hold a B.A. degree in Music Education from the College of St. Scholastica, specializing in Piano and Voice. My experience includes 30+ years of professional teaching experience at home and abroad (Nigeria). Instrumental coaching of other instrumentalists will be considered only on an advanced level. My students routinely participate in the State Theory and Piano exams as well as the State Competitions. Students typically earn scores of Superior, Distinction and High Distinction. Several students are declared District and State Winners every year. I am licensed through the Music Teacher’s National Association (MTNA) and the Maryland, Virginia and D.C. chapters of the MTNA. My experience also includes serving as the Director of Music at several churches for over 30 years and I am also a past member of the NPM (National Pastoral Musicians Association).
It has been my life's work to express those emotions and feelings that can only be conveyed through music. It's how our spirit takes wing and soars to unfathomable, seemingly unreachable heights. Music skills are also invaluable for brain, social and psychological development. It supports creativity, mathematical and logical thinking, and of course, mental wellbeing. I hope that my teaching can help you nourish this gift in yourself or in your child. |
